Building infrastructures for inclusive regeneration

This paper explores the foundational role of physical infrastructure in making inclusive, community-led regeneration possible. It does this through documenting three years engaged research on participatory planning, conducted Westfield, a community Sheffield, UK, which experiences ‘multiple deprivation’. The looked to support planning efforts taking place under auspices Big Local programme and afforded significant insight into combined impacts austerity ideologically driven development initiatives for people trying make positive change their communities. Our principal contributions are twofold: firstly, theoretical contribution, how it is understood certain kinds possible impossible; secondly, application concrete case, Westfield’s pub-turned-community-centre, Com.unity.
